The first church plant in Selebi-Phikwe called “Church Of The Harvest” was started in town centre July of 2007, where Robert & Mary now reside. This church was started from an evangelistic outreach held in the most poverty stricken area of the city. Most of the congregation are all newly saved, some have been delivered from demons and many have experienced the healing power of God. The core group is maturing & growing. We have many young men between 20 and 45 years of age who are actively pursueing the Lord. There is a hunger and thirst for more of the Lord among us. We have been blessed that we now have some solid interpreters, and some in the congregation are beginning to lead meetings.
In March of 2009 a second church was started in an area of the city called Botshabelo. This area is reported to be 57% HIV positive among pregnant women, is very poverty stricken and the crime rate is very high. With people dying at such early ages there is a real sense of urgency to reach the lost with the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The church continues to grow and mature and reach out in the community.
In May of 2010 a third congregation was established in a nearby village called Tobane. In the midst of much witchcraft we have seen the Lord do many marvelous works. Many healings have occured. Blinded eyes have opened, deaf ears now hear, and several have been saved, both young and old. Some have come, been healed and have gone back to thier cultic churches but as we have often seen in the past, when they have a need, they will come again. We will continue to be an expression and extension of the love of the Lord to them, and in time, some will come to know and accept Him. There is much work yet to be done and more help is needed. We do not yet have someone to Shephard this church on a full time basis. We covet your prayers for this new church plant.
We believe the church is the hub of life and that God will use it to extend the Gospel to other nations, that many might be saved! That we might facilitate the making of disciples in many nations. We need your prayers! Selebi-Phikwe is an area known to be surrounded by witchcraft and the spiritual battle is very real.
