Children Of Promise ( Orphan Project )

Second Home - The Roof is Being Completed

Children of Promise is an orphan project and the biggest project Branch Ministries has ever taken on. The government of Botswana issued Branch Ministries a parcel of land measuring 2.007 hectares (5 acres) in 2008 and we have been busy developing the orphan care centre from that time.
In 2009 we fenced the entire property (necessary because of high theft and also the many cattle, donkeys, goats etc. roaming free), as well as bring a water supply in from 1 km away. We also built a two roomed structure to store equipment and tools as well as house on site workers. We cleared the house plot and began the construction of the first orphan home. Each three bedroom orphan home measures 12 X 14 meters (40′ X 46′), and is built to house 12 children comfortably with a set of parents.
In 2010 we built the second orphan home. The roof and plumbing have been completed but the electrical and cabinetry have not yet been done. Please pray that we find a good electrician and the Lord provides the finances to complete this home.
Also in December we built a small two roomed home for the grounds keeper / on site security guard and his family as there was no place for them.
Also, we have constructed a home for the projects director. The roof has been constructed but we have not yet started the plumbing, electrical, or cabinetry. It is our desire and prayer that we would complete this home quickly as we would like to open the Centre this year and begin caring for orphans before year end.
When the project is complete it will accommodate and care for 180+ orphans, in individual homes (housing up to 12 children) built on this site. This will allow children to receive individual care to help meet their emotional and spiritual needs as well as restore a family unit and loving environment.

In addition to caring for children a Christian School and a Vocational Training Centre will also be built on this site in the future. Large scale crop farming and cattle, goat and chicken farming will also be done to help with the needs such a project creates.
